Since the creation of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, different research groups have been set up to carry out and pursue different lines of research within the aforementioned areas. The research results achieved during all these years have made it possible to produce an initial seed which, given the quality and relevance of the work and tasks undertaken until now, has made it possible to formalise and articulate them through a Research Centre that could be consolidated in the short term into a University Institute, as was the case in 2022. In this way, I3E was conceived as an integrating element and nexus of all the developments carried out by the different people assigned to it in order to enhance these based on the establishment of synergies between their initiatives, so that their actions have a greater impact on the socio-economic environment in which the Miguel Hernández University of Elche operates.
